The DEFEND Cleveland Show

Cavs Deadline—Sam Amico—Zach Lowe—Violence—A Trade and a Push

Cavs Trade Deadline
Sifting through articles on the Cavaliers with the looming trade deadline, sitting in my usual chair by the window surrounded by fools, I am not only torn between coffee and scotch. There are two schools of debate on the Cavs trade possibilities presented by the tangent two of Cleveland basketball sports writing—that is, unfortunately, this pair of articles presented from Sam Amico and Grantland’s Zach Lowe (Grantland holds this by default in exposure). Both tip their little hats to the Cavs play as of late in their win streak, the sharing and the caring on both sides of the ball, the Satyagraha in lieu of Chris Grant. But where Amico seems to be content with the Cavs making no push at the trade deadline, Lowe at Grantland gets it right saying the Cavs shouldn’t overreact nor be contented with their roster in this win streak and should be looking to both the short and long term futures. Amico carries the look of complacent and hopeful but is vaguely naive and wan, which suits his Alfred E. Neuman face just fine. Lowe’s article also wins merit on its account of actual basketball smarts and the ability to use fact when pushing speculation. The glaring problem with Lowe’s piece is his use of the word “cute” in describing the Cavs five (now six) game win streak. Referring to any accomplishment of mine (and it is mine as well as yours), large or small, with a patronizing, cloying adjective gives me leave to wrap my cute little fingers into even cuter little balls and warp them into your cute little teeth. Amico, you’re next, and I’ve a hell of a target.
